Jonny Nash began his career whilst living in Japan during the 2000’s, releasing his first records on Kenji Takimi’s seminal label Crue-l. Relocating to London, Nash released a number of records on Lovefingers ESP Institute before starting Melody As Truth in 2014 as an outlet for his work. MAT launched with Nash’s blissful ambient EP Phantom Actors and was followed in 2015 by the album Exit Strategies, which highlighted Nash’s ability as a multi-instrumentalist.
His 2017 Eden, recorded in Bali, received praise for its compositional skill. MAT is also a home to regular collaborator Suzanne Kraft, who has released two solo albums on the label and the collaborative Nash/Kraft album Passive Aggressive in 2017. In recent years Nash has expanded his work into the field of film and art projects. He has composed a number of film scores, most recently for the 1976 film Sky Over Holland which was premiered at the 2017 Dekmantel Festival. In the same year he was invited for a residency at Xavier Veihlan’s Studio Venezia project at the Venice Biennale with Italian ambient pioneer Gigi Masin, resulting in the release of the 2019 album “Postcards From Nowhere”
Nash also works closely with the Amsterdam label Music From Memory, releasing a solo album for the label, entitled “Make A Wilderness” in 2019. He was also released two albums on MFM as Gaussian Curve alongside Gigi Masin and Marco Sterk aka Young Marco in 2015 and 2017.
An accomplished multi-instrumentalist, Nash’s live performances are a constantly evolving hybrid of acoustic and electronic improvisations centred on guitar and piano.
